Harvesting & Farm Services

What is the pulp-wood harvesting process?

Pulp-wood harvesting is the process of cutting trees grown for industrial wood production and preparing the timber for transportation to processing facilities. The process typically involves several stages, depending on the tree species, buyer requirements and harvesting arrangement.

First, the trees are assessed to determine whether they are ready for harvesting. Once the schedule is confirmed, the trees are cut and the wood is collected. Debarking may be carried out to remove the outer bark, followed by chipping when required by the mill. The prepared wood is then transported to the designated processing facility according to its specifications.

Proper planning helps coordinate labour, machinery, transportation and delivery schedules. Farmers should also confirm the expected harvesting costs, wood measurements, quality requirements and payment terms before work begins.

Podhigai Nursery provides pulp-wood harvesting services for plantations and works on activities that include harvesting, debarking and chipping under relevant work arrangements. You can learn more on our Harvesting Service page.
